Introduction
During the early days of Singapore, Boat Quay served as Singapore’s major trading and commerce hub especially during the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869. It wasn’t until the late twentieth century that developing technology shifted modern freightage to Pasir Panjang, and this saw the demise of Boat Quay. Since then, Boat Quay has undergone a preservation plan and now provides its famous nightlife with the historical ambiance of the river.
